Carol singers at the door, frost on the glass and the whole house smelling of Christmas Eve. Christmas Carol fills the room with orange studded with clove, wrapped in dark woods and soft musk, warm enough to pull everyone a little closer. It belongs to the cosiest corners of Christmas fiction: small towns under fresh snow, reunions years in the making, and a kitchen still busy at midnight on the twenty-fourth.

Winter Solstice

by Rosamunde Pilcher, (2000)

One by one, other strangers with nowhere else to go arrive at the door, the last of them in a snowstorm, and an unlikely household begins to take shape around the fire.

The Christmas Train

by David Baldacci (2002)

Barred from flying, a burnt-out journalist boards a train from Washington to Los Angeles to reach his girlfriend in time for Christmas. Then a winter storm sets in, his fellow passengers prove far more interesting than expected, and one of them is the woman he never quite got over.

The Christmas Mystery

The Christmas Mystery

by Jostein Gaarder (1992)

In the weeks before Christmas, a boy in Norway is given a strange handmade advent calendar, and behind each door he finds a folded note. Together the notes tell of a girl who chased a toy lamb out of an Oslo department store and was never seen again, and as December counts down, Joachim begins to suspect it really happened.

Orange: Zested over the kitchen counter on Christmas Eve, it brings a bright, juicy sweetness to the room.

Clove: Pressed into orange peel the old-fashioned way, clove adds a warm, peppery spice that smells instantly of the festive season.

Dark Woods: Dry and deep, these bring the sturdy, grounding scent of logs stacked beside the hearth.

Musk: The softest layer of the blend, a skin-warm musk that settles over everything like a wool blanket pulled close.

chat_error I have a missing or incorrect wax melt in my package. What should I do?
expand_more

While we strive for 100% accuracy, we are human and mistakes can occasionally happen! If you find a scent is missing or you’ve received the wrong bar, please contact us at info@waxandwords.co.uk with your order number and a photo of the items that arrived. We will prioritise getting the correct melts sent out to you immediately.

local_florist Are your wax melts vegan-friendly and cruelty-free?
expand_more

Yes. Our wax melts are crafted using plant-based coconut wax, which is sustainable, biodegradable, and vegan-friendly. We also ensure that none of our ingredients, including our fragrance oils, are ever tested on animals.

mop How do I remove the old wax from my burner?
expand_more

The cleanest way to swap scents is to wait until the wax has completely cooled and hardened. Light your tealight (or turn on your electric warmer) for about 30 seconds - just long enough to loosen the base. The solid disc should slide out easily. Simply wipe the well with a paper towel to remove any remaining residue before adding a new scent.

PRO TIP: Use wax melt liners or silicone trays. This is the easiest way: once the melt is solidified inside the liner or tray, simply pop it out and discard. You can even use the old wax as a fire starter for your fireplace or fire pit!

emergency_heat Why is there "smoke" coming from my wax?
expand_more

In most cases, this is not smoke but fragrance vapour. When the oil is heated, it evaporates to release the aroma into the room. If the vapour is white and wispy, it is perfectly normal. However, if you see dark smoke, it may be a sign that your tealight is too large or the burner is getting too hot.

pets Can I use these melts around pets?
expand_more

While our wax melts are safe for general home use, it is important to ensure the room is well-ventilated. Some pets can be sensitive to certain strong fragrances or specific essential oils. We recommend keeping burners out of reach of curious paws and observing your pet for any signs of discomfort when trying a new scent.

healing Why is the bottom of a wax melt cube uneven?
expand_more

An uneven or slightly bumpy base is actually proof that we use natural coconut wax. These "imperfections" are purely aesthetic and occur due to micro-variations in temperature while the wax is cooling, during storage, or even whilst being shipped to your home. It has absolutely no impact on the quality or the incredible scent throw of the melt.

balance Why do some cubes have a slight difference in weight?
expand_more

Each cube is hand-poured, so slight variations in wax weight are completely normal. The important part is the fragrance oil, which is measured using 0.001g precision scales and is always exactly the same. A tiny difference in wax has no impact on scent throw.
